Technology is different from 25 years ago, and even a year of difference is considered a considerable gap.
But no matter how far technology takes us, there will always be software glitches and some hardware issues.
When it comes to Apple, their devices are known to last longer than their competitors.
My sister’s MacBook lasted seven years before its part required a replacement.
iPads are Apple’s other popular segment which is now closer than ever to blurring the lines between a tablet and a computer.
But they, too, have their issues.
The most common is apps randomly closing. There could a variety of reasons why this happens, and app bugs is definitely one of them.
Let’s get to the root of this hitch and make your iPad great again!
Why does my iPad apps keep closing
There is no single way of fixing this snag, so I have listed a few methods that could get rid of it.
Method 1: Close all the apps and restart your iPad
This is a simple process. You can do two things – close the buggy app or close all the apps at once.
Apple calls this method ‘force closing.’ To force close app/apps, the method depends on which iPad you have.
With home button:
Step 1: Double-click on the Home button to show your recently used apps.
Step 2: Swipe left or right to find the app you want to close.
Step 3: Swipe up on the app’s preview to close the app.
Without home button:
Step 1: From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and take a slight pause in the middle of the screen.
Step 2: Swipe left or right to find the app you want to close.
Step 3: Swipe up on the app’s preview to close the app.
After closing the apps, you can reopen the app for everyday usage.
Method 2: Apps should be up to date
There might be a few apps that might crash quite often and that could be the app’s fault.
If it keeps happening, you’ll have to see if it’s the latest version, as older versions aren’t fully compatible with your iPad’s newest update.
In this case, you’ll have to update the app, and you’ll get it in a few taps.
Step 1: Go to the App Store.
Step 2: Click on your account icon located at the top-right corner.
Step 3: Now, scroll down to see if the app that’s buggy has a new update.
Step 4: If it does, tap on ‘Update’ and wait for it to get updated.
If you don’t see an update, scroll below for more options.
Method 3: Uninstall and reinstall the suspect app
If force closing and updating the app didn’t work, this is the easiest method to eliminate any bugs.
There might be a problem with the installation of the app in question. So, you’ll simply have to uninstall the app and then redownload it.
By doing so, you’ll lose all your data, so ensure that you have backed it up.
To delete the app:
Step 1: Enter jiggle mode by touching and holding the app.
Step 2: Click on Remove App.
Step 3: Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm.
To reinstall the app:
Step 1: Go to the App Store.
Step 2: Search the app.
Step 3: Click on the download button.
Method 4: Check is iPad is up to date
The root cause could be your iPad’s old software. So, as we did with the apps, you’ll have to check if there’s a new iPadOS update.
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Click on General.
Step 3: Now tap on Software Update.
Step 4: If there’s a new update, you’ll get the information.
Method 5: Get in touch with the app’s developer
If none of the issues work, contacting the app’s developer is your last resort.
Contact the developer from the App Store:
Step 1: Go to the App Store.
Step 2: Now, find the app in question.
Step 3: Scroll to the ‘Ratings & Reviews’ section.
Step 3: Keep scrolling till you see App Support.
Here, you can either write a review or directly contact the developer.
Conclusion
These methods could be the solution to the random crashes you are witnessing.
Mostly restarting the app solves the issue; if not, there are other methods to look into.
If none of it works, then contact Apple Support.
